The three main reasons to find milk alternative and switch from dairy to non-dairy milk are: if you’re a lactose intolerant, an advocate of animal rights, or on a whole plant-based diet.

My reason for switching to non-dairy milk is because I want to completely become on plant-based diet. As of the moment, I am still not 100% on it. So I went to the supermarket to find and check non-dairy milk brands here in the Philippines.
Ingredients: Soybeans, Water, Sugar, and Lecithin.

Does non-dairy milk go bad?But of course! While non-dairy milk certainly lasts longer than dairy milk, it will still go bad. As for how many days before it go bad, you should check if your non-dairy milk is still OK by its 7th day from the day it’s opened. Keep it refrigerated. Away from the door of the refrigerator. Best in the middle of the fridge near the freezer but not close to froze it. Don’t drink milk straight from its package as it will ensure faster spoilage because bacteria from your mouth will be transferred to the milk. Once the package is opened, make sure to close tightly before putting it back inside your fridge. And if unopened, store it away from direct sunlight or direct heat It’s best to look for any instruction on the package for storage instruction to lengthen the storage life of your non-dairy milk. Clear signs that non-dairy milk has gone bad:
- Look it has solidified and has a thick texture
- The smell is off or sour
- Taste is sour (only try to taste a little!)
- Package is bloated
*Plus, according to Reddit u/plantbaseddiet, “Avoid coconut milk/cream due to very high saturated fat and total fat. A can of coconut milk can contain more than 1 week’s worth of saturated fat. Instead, use almond/cashew milk instead for flavour.” So use and consume coconut milk/cream, moderately!
As much as I want to use Westsoy Soymilk. It is a little pricey. So for a non-dairy milk here in the Philippines, I will stick to Milky Soy Milk (Php 78.50) 1L. Aside from I can read and pronounce its ingredients clearly, Milky Soy Milk also is afforable for my budget.
